Microsoft has been prompting Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users to reserve their copy of Windows 10 with a notification in the system tray for since earlier this month, and now it looks like they are taking things a bit further. Spotted by the folks at WinBeta, Microsoft is now asking users to reserve their free upgrade during the Windows 8.1 setup process.
The addition of the prompt during setup apparently came in an update to Windows 8.1, and should pop up for users who are either setting up a new PC or performing a new install. According to WinBeta, the prompt appears after setting up your account, but before moving on to the desktop.
Overall, this is a pretty bold move that shows Microsoft is serious about getting everyone on the Windows 10 train as early as possible. As a reminder, Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for current Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users for up to a year after its July 29 release date.
