Samsung launches LTE-enabled Galaxy Tab A in India, Galaxy Tab E coming later this month

Samsung controls a lion’s share of the tablet market in India, and is looking to continue its strong showing with the launch of the Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab E in the country.

The Galaxy Tab A is positioned in the mid-range segment, offering LTE connectivity in an 8-inch form factor. The tablet has a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 CPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, microSD card slot, 5MP camera at the back, 2MP front shooter, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 4,200mAh battery. The Galaxy Tab A comes with Android 5.0 out of the box.


The Galaxy Tab E is a 9.6-inch tablet that features a screen resolution of 1280 x 800, 1.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB storage, microSD slot, same set of cameras as the Galaxy Tab A, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 5,000mAh battery. The tablet will offer 3G connectivity.


Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab A in the country, with the tablet available online as well as retail stores for ₹20,500 ($ 320). Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab E will go up for sale on Flipkart in a few weeks’ time, and will be sold exclusively online for ₹16,900 ($ 264). Either tablet comes with 2GB cellular data thanks to collaborations with local carriers Airtel and Vodafone. The launch of the two tablets will give Samsung the ability to fend off challenge from local vendors such as Micromax and iBall.
