Samsung has launched a new app that lets you record gameplay from your Galaxy-branded smartphone in full-HD.
Game Recorder+ is now available for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 2.
The app comes with a slew of features, such as the ability to capture video and audio commentary through your device’s front camera and microphone. If you’re on the Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, you’ll be able to record in-game audio directly from the source as well. The app has built-in tools that allow you to trim and upload videos directly to YouTube, and there’s a Game Boost feature that optimizes games.
As for supported titles:
Games from GALAXY Apps and Google Play are supported. If you do not see any of the games you have installed, you can manually register games from the list of installed apps and then record them. However, you cannot record games for which recording has been disabled at the developer’s request or applications that are not games.
Recording through the utility is fairly standard. Once you launch Game Recorder+, you’ll see a red Record button at the bottom of the home screen, which you can use to start and stop a recording session. You can configure video resolution, audio bitrate, as well as YouTube sharing settings directly from within the client. You can also launch your favorite games from within Game Recorder+, and the Quick Record mode (enabled by default) enables you to start recording from the get-go.
There are alternatives available for those looking to record in-game footage on non-Galaxy devices.
