Android owners will be able to download a beta version of Microsoft’s Cortana digital assistant sometime in July.
Microsoft has already announced that its Cortana digital assistant is coming to Android. Now the company has revealed that a beta version of the Cortana app will be available for Android users sometime in July.
As previously revealed by Microsoft, the Cortana version for Android won’t have all of the features of the one that’s already available for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10. Rather, it will serve as a “companion” app for people who have Windows 10 PCs that will sync information across a number of platforms. Microsoft says:
“On your Android phone you can ask Cortana to remind you to walk the dog at 8pm in the evening, and then when you’re watching a movie your Xbox will interrupt playback to let you know it’s time to take the dog out.”
Microsoft also announced this week that Cortana will be added to its Xbox One console later this fall.
