VLC on Windows Phone exceeds 1 million downloads since launch

VLC

The main developer of the VLC app for Windows Phone has revealed that the media player has been downloaded over one million times since it launched.

The news was revealed on Sunday by developer Thomas Nigro via his Twitter account. The first private beta for VLC on Windows Phone launched in December 2014, but that version later leaked to the public. The beta tag was removed from the app in March.

In a follow-up message, Nigro confirmed that since they dropped the beta label and went public with the VLC app, it has seen over 800,000 downloads from the Windows Phone Store. It’s also now a universal app, sharing code with the Windows 8.1/Windows 10 versions.
