If you’re tired of waiting for the Android 5.1.1 OTA to hit your Nexus 9, update manually with the factory image.
We’re a handful of days removed from the announcement that the Android 5.1.1 OTA is now headed to Nexus 9s, but considering that the rollout takes some time it’s worth mentioning that the factory image is now also available. The factory image is Android 5.1.1 (LMY47X), and will get you up to speed on the latest build same as it would if you were to accept the OTA. Unfortunately at this time the image is only available for Wifi Nexus 9s — you’ll have to wait if you have an LTE model.
If you’re tired of waiting for the OTA and want to spend a little time tinkering, be sure to read our guide on how to properly use the factory image to update your device. Once you’re all up and running on 5.1.1, be sure to hit up the forums and let others know how its running!
