ZTE's bezel-less Nubia Z9 now official: 5.2-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 810, 16MP camera

ZTE will offer the bezel-less Nubia Z9 in two editions: an Elite version that has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and a Classic version that offers 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

After rolling out the Nubia Z9 Max and Nubia Z9 mini in the month of March, ZTE has now unveiled its flagship Nubia Z9. The highlight of the device is the display, which has bezels of just 0.8mm. The phone features ZTE’s Frame Interaction Technology (FiT), through which users will be able to swipe the edges of the frame to launch apps, access settings and set gesture-based shortcuts.

There are several pre-defined gestures. For instance, you can slide your fingers across both edges of the screen to adjust the brightness of the display. You can also switch between apps by flicking your thumb up or down, and launch the camera by placing four fingertips on the four corners of the screen. ZTE has mentioned that it will allow third-party apps access to its FiT technology.

When it comes to specs, the Nubia Z9 offers:

ZTE will start sales of the Nubia Z9 from May 21, with the Classic edition set to retail for 3,499 Yuan ($ 564). The Elite edition with 4GB RAM and 64 gigs of storage will be available for 3,999 Yuan ($ 644), and ZTE is also offering a variant of the Elite edition with a fingerprint sensor, called the Exclusive edition, for 4,499 Yuan ($ 725). Interestingly, the fingerprint sensor is incorporated into the sides of the device, unlike implementations we’ve seen thus far, which includes placing the sensor in the home button and at the back.
