Google announced today that it has officially started rolling out the Android 5.1.1 update to Android Wear smartwatches today.
Over on its product forums, Google announced that it has started rolling out Android 5.1.1 to Android Wear watches. Additionally, according to several users on Reddit, and at least one person on our own forums, the update has already started landing on the LG G Watch and G Watch R.
The Android 5.1.1 update shipped with the LG Watch Urbane, and we’ve already taken a good look at its features there, including wrist gestures, always-on apps, and the addition of WiFi on supported devices. Speaking of WiFi, Google confirmed in its announcement that the following watches will be able to take advantage of the feature:
- LG Watch Urbane
- Moto 360
- Sony Smartwatch 3
- Samsung Gear Live
As with all over-the-air updates, this one may take a while to hit your device. However, it looks like the rollout is officially on its way to everyone, so just make sure you’ve got the latest version of the Android Wear app installed on your phone and sit tight.
