There are certainly a lot of points in favor of the Nexus 6P, which may convince some potential buyers to spend the extra cash to get the larger of the two Nexus phones. Not all prices are similar between countries though: going from the 32 GB model of the Nexus 5X to the 32 GB model of the Nexus 6P only costs $ 70 in the US, but costs €120 in Europe, so it’s worth keeping in mind that the Nexus 5X might be relatively cheaper where you live.

AT&T's Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Receives OTA To Lollipop 5.1.1

The big news of today was, of course, Google’s announcement of Android 6.0 / Marshmallow. However, it’s still going to be quite a while before we start seeing it widely distributed on devices not called Nexus. Now that we have that out of the way, the AT&T’s Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 variant can finally say goodbye to KitKat. Following Verizon’s release of a similar OTA last week, Samsung and Big Blue have finally released an update for the mammoth-sized tablet, upgrading it to Android 5.1.1 / Lollipop.

The OTA weighs in at just over 1 GB, so allow plenty of time to download it. The firmware version is P907AUCU1BOH3 and is based on Android build LMY47X, as is most of the 5.1.1-based firmware that Samsung has put out for its devices.

Other than the OS upgrade, AT&T tells us that some of the pre-installed apps were removed, namely WatchON, Beats Music, and Famigo Kids. For getting rid of three, we get one new one, however – Amazon Shopping. Still, a net loss of two apps that most people never use is definitely a big positive. It remains to be seen whether this update finally fixes the infamous blue screen of death that has plagued this P907A variant since launch. That said, I have used mine very heavily today and have not had the problem, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

While Lollipop may be a bit anti-climactic on a day like today, a major OS upgrade is still a big deal. There’s no telling whether or not the Pro series tablets will get Marshmallow in the future, but there is plenty of reason to be hopeful considering the devices were only launched about 18 months ago. Samsung tends to have a pretty good track record of keeping their flagship phones and tablets updated for at least two years. Of course, this is just pure speculation on my part until we see an actual OTA roll out somewhere in the world. Time will tell.

TAG Heuer’s Luxury Smartwatch Set For November 9th Release

Smartwatches are still not technically a mainstream device as the number of consumers who own one compared to the number of people who own a smartphone capable of working with a smartwatch is quite a bit lower. Nevertheless, smartwatches are continuing to gain traction and popularity and more watch brands are finding themselves delving into the unknown waters of manufacturing a more advanced, technological timepiece than they’re used to. Brands like Fossil are known to be manufacturing a smartwatch running Android Wear. Even luxury brands like Tag Heuer have confirmed they’re manufacturing a smartwatch to provide consumers with a more high-end choice to what’s currently available.

Until recently there hadn’t been many details regarding specific availability for the luxury smartwatch, but it’s now being stated that Tag Heuer has confirmed a launch date for the product of November 9th. Details of the Tag Heuer smartwatch first started emerging in December of last year where the rumor began to surface that they would be working with Intel to launch the device. In April of this year, more rumors emerged suggesting that Tag Heuer had plans for a launch date sometime towards the end of the year, possibly in October or November, and that the tentative cost would be upwards of $ 1,400. While there are still no exact details or confirmation on the price of the watch, the launch date seems to be right on target and matching up with previous rumors.

The Tag Heuer smartwatch according to Jean-Claud Biver who is the Chief of LVMH (the multi-national conglomerate who owns Tag Heuer) states that the watch will go on sale at 11 a.m. in New York as an answer to the Apple Watch and in an attempt to grab the attention of those seeking high-end smartwatches. The niche would be that, as Biver states, “it will look like a normal watch” which is something that is sure not going to fall on deaf ears. Function is certainly important, but watches have always been more for form and are thought of as an accessory and a fashion piece for most people. It could be this then that sets apart the offering from Tag Heuer.

Some Chromecast 2015 And Chromecast Audio Orders Are Already Shipping - Next Day Delivery Arriving Tomorrow

This year’s Nexus launch seems to have gone surprisingly smoothly – there’s no angry mob of disgruntled fans gathering outside of Google’s headquarters after everything switches over to “Coming Soon” on the order page. In fact, the gadgets that were immediately available for purchase are already shipping, at least to some customers. We’ve heaard from multiple Android Police staff and readers that say their Chromecast 2015 and/or Chromecast Audio units have already shipped.

If you sprang for next day shipping, you might even get your new streaming doodad tomorrow. Artem’s is coming tomorrow, or possibly the next day. We’ll see. Now that I think about it, perhaps I shouldn’t have mentioned that – now there will be a mob of happy fans waiting outside his door until the UPS truck comes by.

Obviously this doesn’t apply to everyone – plenty of people are still waiting on their Google Store orders to process as well. If you’re eager to get your hands on a new Chromecast, remember that they tend to go out to retailers rather quickly; Best Buy would be a good place to check.

New Chromecast App Features/UI Are Live In latest Update

Android fans certainly had an exciting morning as Google held an event in San Francisco where the company announced an assortment of new hardware and software. This includes two new Nexus smartphones, a new Chromecast as well as Chromecast Audio, a new Pixel tablet, and some significant updates to a couple of Google’s apps. One of those apps being the companion app for Google’s ever so popular Chromecast. These changes and updates that Google discussed for the Chromecast app are not small by any means and they just went live on the Play Store.

First and foremost when it comes to the changes to the Chromecast app is a huge new focus on content discovery. When users open the newly updated Chromecast app they will be greeted with personalized content suggestions. This includes movies and TV shows that Google thinks the user may be interested in based on their previous watching history. A great thing about these recommendations is that the Chromecast app will only recommend content that is available within apps on the user’s device. Meaning that if somebody does not have the Netflix app installed on their device then the Chromecast app will not recommend movies that are only available via Netflix. All of what was just described is located in the default tab within the new Chromecast app called ‘What’s On,’ but if users scroll down past the content recommendations they will see a nice grid of apps. These are the apps that the user has on their device that are Chromecast compatible. Tapping one of these apps will take the user directly into the app itself.

Then there are the other two tabs, ‘Devices’ and ‘Get Apps.’ Tap the Devices tab and the user will gain access to all of the Chromcasts that are currently available to them. Tapping on the Get Apps tab will allow the user to see a selection of Chromecast enabled apps that they don’t currently have installed on their device. And then there is one more significant feature in the new Chromecast app that is not associated with any of the three tabs, universal search. Yes, that’s right, users can now tap the search bar that is always located at the top of the app and then search for individual TV shows or movies. Doing so will bring up a page with information on that movie or TV show as well as a list of apps or services that particular piece of content is available on. All of these changes are now available on the Play Store as an update to the Chromecast app.
